Fighting against the computer player

For those, who like to play against the computer on single player maps and even on difficult to very difficult user maps, should know about the AI's weakness. To some extent some maps are even designed in just winning by knowing the AI's weakness, otherwise you'll be destroyed sooner or later. Almost everytime you, with just low combat power, have to attack an outnumbered opponent. To be successful though, you have to use the AI's grave weakness:

If a tower is attacked, all the soldiers in the immidiate vicinity rush towards this tower, somehow defenceless in this modus. They only start to fight until they have reached a certain point at the tower.

By playing the user map „horus falcon“ this special behaviour can be demonstrated in the best way. The map was played in the single player contest; new records have been established.

Even the map wasn't created to be an absolute quick- map, it can be won with the startup-soldiers without being forced to build a single building. It isn't quite typical settlers-like, but here it's all about fighting.

Those, who just rush your startup - soldiers towards the opponent tower, will have to expect his or her own little Waterloo. The opponent has a bit more soldiers than you and besides your combat power is just up to 50% offensive power on adversarial ground.

I havn't been successful in attacking with such a frontal offence yet. All my sodliers have been killed instead. So inadvisable! If not successful through the frontdoor, you have to find another way. Let's try!

Let's watch the first picture:

The AI has finished the construction of a tower at its border. This fact is used to start the first and all deciding offence.

As you see most of your own soldiers have passed the tower to build an almost compact front line, which the opposing soldiers can't pass. One short knock on the tower's door is enough to allure the adversarial soldiers, afterwards you have to remove your soldiers with [Strg]+[right click] from the door. Otherwise your soldiers would conquer the tower and the blue enemy would turn back immediately. In this case our aim is to eliminate all loose running soldiers. Some soldiers stand above the tower, so nobody can pass, the bulk stands underneath the tower where most of the opposing soldiers arrive.

Those, who watch closely, may discover, that even two soldiers and a priest have been able to get through to the tower's door, but fortunately there's still one of our soldiers blocking the entrance with a pioneer. At the same time the enemy is under fire by bowmen in the woods on the right side, who even stand on their own land and so fight with 100% combat power, a fact, which is not very important here.

Now all opposing soldiers have arrived being blocked in a bunch left of the tower, who is surrounded by the red soldiers. Since the blue stand densely packed, they don't have any chance to drag their weapons *g. So it's quite a one way massacre, but that's exactly the aim, even with just 50% combat power. If the opponent doesn't fend, he can be beaten even with less combat power after some time.

Now you can see a clear superior number of red soldiers. A single blue spearman has in fact reached the door, but since he's no swordsman, he can't staff his tower at this moment, lucky red.

It's done, the tower is ours and the blue soldiers are eliminated. Upon 32 startup soldiers 28 are still alive, though some heavily wounded. So it should be easy to kill the only 3 blue soldiers left in their startup-tower.

The pictures don't show very well what's really happening, so I recommend to play this map on your own.

If the AI builds the tower as shown in the picture (unfortunately it doesn't always like that), it only lasts about 5 minutes. What is shown here also works on a large scale. As long as you block the approaching soldiers, you can defeat a clear superiority with relativly few ownsoldiers.
